About Me
My work focuses on functional ceramic pieces built for everyday use. I create themed dish sets and home items—cups, mugs, plates, bowls, and utensils—using porcelain and stoneware clay and glaze. Visually, my work is whimsical in color, pattern, and shape, combining playful forms with meaningful surface design. I’m especially drawn to antique objects, vintage fabrics, and old furniture, and I use these influences as inspiration for how I finish my pieces with speckled glazes, decorative patterns, and engraved texture. By bringing a sense of nostalgia into typical objects, I aim to beautify daily routines and add joy and creativity to family life at home.
My process begins with hand-building as my primary technique, along with some wheel-throwing when necessary. After shaping each piece, I spend time smoothing and refining the surface and thinking about how I intend the object to be held and used. I like to make my pieces as lightweight and comfortable as possible, and I include unique comfort concepts, such as “hand-warming” mugs, to add more value to my work. Lastly, I glaze my pieces and add decoration, diving deep into whimsical colors, patterns, and textures.
Conceptually, I explore the idea that everyday objects can hold meaning beyond practicality. I want my ceramics to create moments of comfort, creativity, and connection—especially within a family. Whether it’s a hot chocolate with siblings, a Sunday breakfast, or a late weeknight dinner after work and school, I want my dishes to remind people to slow down, notice small details, and find gratitude in everyday moments. Ultimately, I strive to make my work feel personal, bringing users a sense of warmth and value in the spaces where home and family life happen.
